Privacy policy and what happens to your data
What Your Food stores, what it does not, which third parties are involved, and how to have your data deleted. The website and the app are covered separately.
This page covers two different things, and they work differently: this website and the Your Food mobile app.
The website
yourfood.app is a set of static pages, served entirely from this domain. There is no advertising anywhere on it, and no data is sold. If you allow audience measurement, Google Analytics processes the data described below.
Measurement, and your choice
The site uses Google Analytics to measure visits, pages viewed and clicks to the App Store or Google Play. This information helps improve the content and interface. Advertising signals and ad personalization are disabled. Measurement is off until you give permission.
- On your first visit a banner asks. Nothing that measures is loaded, fetched or executed before you accept. Refusing is not a flag that gets respected afterwards: the request is never made at all.
- “Accept all” and “Reject all” are available at the same level. “Customize” opens the individual Google Analytics setting. Ignoring the banner counts as refusing.
- Your choice is stored in your browser, on your device, with the date you made it. It is not sent anywhere, and it is re-asked after about thirteen months.
If you refuse, the site behaves in exactly the same way. Nothing is withheld, degraded or nagged about.
The contact form
The name, address and message you type are used to answer you and for nothing else. No newsletter, no resale, no profiling. Messages arrive by email at Harderue Studio and are not stored in any other system.
The app
What is stored about you
Two different things, and it is worth being precise about the difference.
Who you are: your email address. That is the only piece of identifying information the app asks for or keeps. There is no name, no phone number, no address, no contact list, no location.
What you put in: your inventory content. Your lists, products, quantities, dates, prices and notes are stored on Firebase so they can sync between your own devices and, if you choose to share, with the people you invite. This content is tied to your account, so it counts as data about you even though you are the one who wrote it, and it is covered by the deletion and copy requests below.
This page will not call your content anonymous, because it is not: it is stored under your account. That link is what makes syncing work, what makes sharing work, and what makes the content yours to export or delete whenever you want.
What it is used for is the short part. It syncs to your own devices, and to the people you explicitly invite. Nothing else. It is never read for advertising, never sold, and never shared with anyone you did not invite yourself.
Signing in
Authentication is handled by Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple. Your Food never sees or stores a password: the identity provider confirms who you are and returns an identifier.
Services the app relies on
| Service | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Firebase (Google) | Accounts, storage and synchronisation between devices |
| Google Analytics for Firebase | Anonymous usage measurement, to see which features are actually used |
| Unity | The engine the app is built with |
| Google Sign-In | Authentication |
| Sign in with Apple | Authentication |
Each of these processes data under its own terms. Google Analytics is the only measurement tool involved, and it is there to understand how the app is used, not to build a profile of you.
There is no advertising
Not in the free version, not in Premium, not on this website. No advertising network receives anything about you, because none is present.
Deleting your data
You do not need to ask anyone, and you do not need this website. The whole deletion runs inside the app:
Settings → Account → Delete Account
Once you confirm, every piece of cloud-stored data attached to the account is permanently deleted, along with the authentication information that identifies it, and the session on the device you are holding is revoked.
This cannot be undone. There is no restore window, no archive to ask for and no copy kept on our side. If an inventory matters to you, take what you need out of it before you confirm.
If you can no longer sign in, write from the contact page using the email address linked to the account and the deletion will be carried out for you. That route exists for the case where the in-app one is out of reach, not as the normal way in.
You can also ask what is stored about you, and receive a copy.
Changes
If any of this changes, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it. Nothing here is meant to be quietly revised.
Changing your cookie choice
The same control is in the footer of every page.
